BBBH London’s refreshingly quirky spot for Tesco is based on the retailer’s 2023 Christmas Report that revealed 31 per cent of UK adults say they find the build up to Christmas more exciting than the big day itself.

Helmed by directing duo Alaska (Marco Lafer and Gustavo Moraes), through Iconoclast, with post by Black Kite Studios, the heart-warming film centres on a father-son relationship and follows the enthusiastic dad trying to instil some seasonal glee into his typically unimpressed eye-rolling teenage lad.

So excited by the Tesco festive goodies on offer, the Dad gets all arboreal, while mother becomes a Snowmum and other Tesco customers morph into baubles and stars as they are literally taken over by festive feelings.

Will the sulky son follow (tree) suit and follow the campaign's invitation to Become More Christmas? You'll have to watch and see.

Eschewing the often soppy sonics or Christmas carol remixes that this time of year can bring to adland, the ad’s joyfully wacky tone is greatly enhanced by the soundtrack of the 1995 hit How Bizarre, by New Zealand band OMC.

Look out for shots interview with the directing team Alaska, and BBH deputy ECD Felipe Serradourada Guimaraes about the making of the spot.
