The societal restrictions of motherhood are physically manifested in this eye-catching and impassioned film from mortierbrigade for Equal Pay Day.

Entitled The Umbilical Cord, the film sees six former Belgian champions - namely hammer thrower Kathleen De Wolf (six-time world champion), pole vaulter Karen Pollefeyt (5 gold medals at the Belgian championship), hurdler Vita Van Belleghem (Several times Belgian champion all-around), synchronised swimmers Genevieve Michils and Alexandra Baes (Gold at the World Championship Masters Syncro), and gymnast Ellen Grillet (bronze at Belgian championship) - undertake their sports whilst still attached to their offspring by the aforementioned navel string.

Directed by CZAR's Lionel Goldstein, the quirky film strikes an impressive balance of comedic absurdity and biting satirical comment, which, when backed by the brilliant musical choice of Poor Mum by Molly Drake, makes for an unignorable statement.
