Bigotry doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and Santé Publique France is ready to face the problem head-on.

A couple lets go of each other’s hands as they walk down a street; a woman holds ice to her face after being assaulted at a protest; two people are denied a taxi for dressing flamboyantly. All these small acts of fear are part of the lives of countless queer people, and by shining a light on even the most mundane of microaggressions, director Lucy Luscombe shows that homophobia is a problem everyone needs to work to solve.

There are also moments of joy, affirmation, defiance, and healing. While many ads focus on either happiness or struggle, it’s difficult to find the right balance when acknowledging both sides of the queer experience. Set to the tune of the classic song Nous Les Amoureux, by Jean-Claude Pascal (himself a closeted gay man) the film is charming, sweet, and sad, all at the same time. Agency Babel took the lead on the piece and Caviar London produced.
