In this mysterious music video for French musician Guillaume Poncelet’s track Yaki Imo, director James F Coton of Salve Roma Films questions the concept of perfection through contemporary dance.

Through eccentric and expressive choreography, Sarah Abicht of La Horde plays the role of an immaculately-dressed bride who, moments before her wedding, sees a painting of a Yaki Imo, a Japanese sweet potato dish that is not aesthetically beautiful, but perfectly tasty.

Moved by the artwork, the protagonist is overcome by the need to break free from her family’s expectations and conventional ideas of perfection, instead exploring the beauty that can be found in raw emotion, realness, love, tears, and authentic creative expression.
