How do you capture the full scope of skate culture? Well, it’s going to take more than just one video.

Skate Nation Ghana (dirs. Bafic, Elliott Powers, and Justyna ObasiLove Song) imitates an 80s vibe with jazzy songs, bright text, and flashbacks. The film tells the story of Joshua Odamtten, who learned to skate on the streets of Accra at night by watching videos of his idol Chris Cole. No Comply (dir. Yann Demange, Reset) follows a new brand of outcast trick - when you step off the board to perform a movement, ollie, or flip. Featuring trans skateboarders Kane Caples and Marbie Miller showing off different skips, the film feels fresh, innovative, and unlike any other skateboard film.

Another film; Once Upon a Time Everywhere (dir. Juan CabralMJZ) takes skateboards into to the metaverse, and allows skateboarders to go where they’ve never gone before in a surreal exploration of the AR world. In the fourth film, Longboard Family, (dir. FKA twigsObject & Animal)dancing and skateboarding combine in an athletic, artistic, and mesmerizing style. Tricks featured include synchronized choreography and pirouettes on the back end of the board.

Droga5 led the multi-national campaign, highlighting all the new and fascinating players, progressions, and developments the world can hope to see at the skateboarding Olympics this year.
