Celebrate 20 Years of straight 8 With Special Screening
From the scores of straight 8 films across two decades, straight 8 is showing a greatest hits reel at the London Short Film Festival this Sunday.
straight 8, the hugely successful short film competition where entrants shoot on super 8 film and edit in-camera, is holding its first ever major retrospective screening.
The event will celebrate straight 8’s 20th year and will be held at the London Short Film Festival this Sunday night [January 13] and, lucky you, some seats still remain.
The show will be an extraordinary collection of impressive shorts - all made on super 8 with not a single splice - from the straight 8 competition since its inception in 1999.
The 20 straight8est Hits Vol.1 line-up will be revealed on the night, and some of the early films have been re-scanned from the original celluloid by Cinelab London so will be seen as never before.
"So many cinematic mini-masterpieces have been a big part of the straight 8 journey since 1999."
“If you like your visual storytelling as raw as it gets, you'll love this,” said Ed Sayers, the founder of straight 8 [pictured top]. ““It was seriously hard to choose just 20 straight8est hits hence we’ve called it vol.1. So many cinematic mini-masterpieces have been a big part of the straight 8 journey since 1999. This really is one of the most solid collections of shorts you will ever see.
“Congrats to all who made these wonders - straight 8 is indebted to your creative bravery. The big screen at Regent Street Cinema may actually catch fire.”
If you’d like to celebrate the start of the 20th anniversary year of straight 8 at London Short Film Festival and meet many of the makers then a limited amount of seats remain.
