MJZ Takes Grand Prix for Film with Old Spice, RSA Scores Film Craft Grand Prix for “The Gift” It was a big night for MJZ on Saturday in Cannes, when the international production company scored the Grand Prix in the Film category for the Wieden + Kennedy Old Spice “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” spot, directed by Tom Kuntz, and also took the Palme d’Or honors for the most-awarded production company. Winning the first-ever Film Craft Grand Prix was “The Gift,” directed by Carl Erick Rinsch for RSA Films in London, created by DDB, London. Gold Lions in the Film competition were awarded to the following: --“Replacement” for Fruit by the Foot, directed by Tom Kuntz of MJZ, Los Angeles for Saatchi & Saatchi New York. --“Regulars” for Foster’s Victoria Bitter Beer, directed by the Glue Society of @radical.media, Sydney, for Droga 5, Sydney. --“Arctic Sun” for Tropicana, directed by Samir Mallal of Radke Films, Toronto, for BBDO Canada. --“Inheritance” for Car One, directed by Augusto Gimenez Zapiola of Argentinacine, Buenos Aires for Leo Burnett Argentina. --“Crying” for the New Cinema Film Festival, directed by Sebastian Leda and Francisco D'Amorim Lima of Parana Films, Los Angeles for Conill Saatchi & Saatchi, Torrance, CA. --“Closet” for Canal +, directed by Matthijs van Heijningen of Soixan7e Quin5e, Paris, for BETC Euro RSCG, Paris. --“Monkey” for the World Wildlife Fund, directed by Steve Rogers of Revolver, Sydney, for Leo Burnett, Sydney. --“Selinah” for The Topsy Foundation, directed by Kim Geldenhuys of Egg Films, Cape Town, for Ogilvy & Mather Johannesburg. --“Clean Your Balls” for Axe, directed by Harold Einstein of Station Film, New York, for BBH, New York. --“The Man Who Walked Around the World” for Johnnie Walker, directed by Jamie Rafn of HLA, London for BBH, London. --“Replay” for Gatorade, directed by Kris & Scott of Caviar LA, Santa Monica, for TBWA\Chiat\Day, LA. --“Last Call” for NBC Universal Global Networks Deutschland, directed by Christian Mielmann of Film Deluxe, Berlin for Jung von Matt, Hamburg. Gold Lions for campaigns went to three spots for Vonage, the online phone service, directed by Tim Godsall of Biscuit Filmworks, Los Angeles, for TBWA\Chiat\Day, New York. The spots were titled “Karen,” Rattle” and “Dinner Plans.” Another Gold Lion for a campaign went to two spots for Puma, “Hardchorus” and “Hardchorus Italy,” directed by Ben Gregor of Knucklehead, London for Droga 5, New York. In the Film Craft category, the big winner was “The Gift,” which not only won the Grand Prix but also won a Gold Lion for Special Effects and Computer Graphics. To compete for this prize, a production company must have at least 10 films in the competition, irrespective of whether they’ve been entered by the production company, the advertising agency or another party. The award goes to the agency that obtains the highest score for entries in the Press, Outdoor, Film and Radio Lions sections, irrespective of whether these have been entered by the agency or another party. Coming in second place in the Agency of the Year tally was the New York office of Y&R, followed by Wieden + Kennedy, Portland. Agency Network of the Year honors went to BBDO, followed by DDB and Y&R. The award is given to the agency network that obtains the highest score for entries in the Film, Press, Outdoor, Radio, Media, Cyber, Direct, Promo, Titanium and Integrated sections.
