As a pianist plays Hania Rani’s composition on a piano, set against the mountainous landscape, dancers run into the scene, moving impulsively, letting the music guide them. Without strict choreography, the dancers emote on the beach, all dressed in shades of taupe and beige, at once different and similar to their surroundings. The camera follows them, never stopping, never looking way.
What results is an immersive and sensitive experience, one that creates a sense of deep loss. The dancers are singular and unmissable, framed against the landscape like small lighthouses on the shore. The composition by Rani is soft and lilting, and the work done by Neels creates a fantastic setting for the music to move you.
