Dylan Hayes directs BAOWORLD
BAO London is a distinctive and successful London restaurant chain run by Chang and her husband Sing Tat Chung and his sister Wai Ting.
Knuckleheaddirector Dylan Hayes was commissioned by culture magazine Semaine to creature this film as part of their Tastemaker (Print and Digital) series on co-founder and Creative Director of BAO London, Erchen Chang, in conjunction with the release of her upcoming book.
BAO London is a distinctive and successful London restaurant chain run by Chang and her husband Sing Tat Chung and his sister Wai Ting. The restaurants, branding and food are all consistently recognised for their artistry so it’s no surprise that all three of the founders have a background in the arts while amazingly no formal training in the culinary arts.
Hayes’ expressionistic and textural film capitalises on the unique ethos of the brand. He breathes surrealism and humour into BAOWORLD; delightfully offsetting Chang’s deadpan narration. The film reflects the multi-dimensional experience that a visit to BAO sets out to create, born out of the founders’ extensive journeying throughout Taiwan and China, eating and cooking together
