Director/Flame Artist John J. Budion joins Humble
Versatile visual effects artist-turned director, whose ‘Talking Baby’ ETrade spots for Grey were a Super Bowl hit, joins from Click 3X.

Director/Flame Artist John J. Budion, who has directed and/or provided visual effects artistry to a number of high-profile TV spot campaigns, has signed with the New York-based production company Humble as a director. He joins from Click 3X. The announcement came from Eric Berkowitz, Humble Partner and Executive Producer.
Prior to joining Humble, Budion enjoyed an extensive career in the industry, starting at the age of 17, while concurrently working towards his degree at New York University. He was up and running Flame sessions before he finished his first college paper.
A dozen years later, Budion has worked with nearly every agency in the New York area, and has extensive feature film credits under his belt. He has conceptualized, directed creative directed and created visual effects for numerous jobs, from pre-production through post, for a variety of brands and clients.
A high profile example of this can be seen in the 2010 Super Bowl spots he directed for Grey Advertising and ETrade and its famous Talking Baby Campaign. Handling the live action and the post production, Budion completed seven spots that aired before, during, and after the game, earning him a shortlist honor in Cannes, as well as a New Director's Showcase selection for SHOOT magazine.
Among the projects he’s worked on either in his role as Creative Director or Director, includes spots for Converse and Motorola, as well as work for MTV, truTV and the title sequence for the rock and roll documentary “It Might Get Loud.” When not shooting, says Berkowitz, Budion can probably be found “getting a tattoo, or working out. Quite possibly at the same time.”
