Culture-defining production house Fela has welcomed Othello Grey for photographic representation in the US and Canada.

Grey joins photographer Ro.lexx and multifaceted artist Justin Singer, who is also on Fela’s live action directorial roster, in Fela’s new photography division.

Grey has built his reputation through his skill at communicating nuance while blurring the lines between what is considered editorial, commercial, and artistic photography. He has worked with international brands and publications including Louis Vuitton, Nike, Apple Music, OVO, Vans, On Running, Converse, SSENSE, Hypebeast, Sprite, Fendi, Adidas, The North Face, and i-D Magazine.

Self-taught, he began by using photography as a means of cataloging his personal experiences; and over time he has honed his ability to weave ephemeral moments together to create engaging visual dialogues.

He hopes to use his platform to aid in removing the guise of beauty and deconstructing the implicit biases associated with Black people and to become the reference point of a Black artist that he never had as a child.

“Having worked with Othello for years, he has become part of our family, and our admiration for his artistry has only deepened,” says Taj Critchlow, Founder of Fela.

“Representing him feels like a natural progression. Regardless of the brand, musician, or publication he collaborates with, his photography always carries his unmistakable style.”
