Director Evan Bourque joins SixTwentySix’s roster
1.4 and Young Directors Award-honoured talent signs for US representation.
Expanding its creative horizons, award-winning LA creative studio SixTwentySix announce the signing of visionary commercial and film director Evan Bourque for US representation.
Known for his unique sense of humour and visually compelling storytelling, Bourque's work has left an indelible mark on the commercial and music video landscape. His signing marks a significant milestone in his career, bringing his distinct voice and creative vision to the forefront of SixTwentySix's innovative projects.
Bourque's path to directing has been anything but conventional. Growing up across various parts of Western Canada, he eventually settled in Vancouver in his early twenties. His academic journey saw him exploring multiple degrees, none related to filmmaking, before a series of short-lived careers led him to discover his passion for directing. From filming skateboarding videos to creating award-winning commercials, Bourque's journey is a testament to his relentless pursuit of creative expression.
Reflecting on his evolution as a director, Bourque shares, "I've become more confident in my style of directing. When I first started out, I would test the waters of different styles and tones of filmmaking, but over the years, I've found a lane and voice that I'm proud of."
Bourque's directing style is characterised by a collaborative, creative, and lighthearted approach. His ability to infuse humour into visually striking narratives has earned him accolades and recognition in the industry. With a meticulous eye for detail and a knack for casting and directing actors, his work stands out for its sincere look and feel paired with unexpected humour.
"I hope my work is known for having a unique, unexpected sense of humour while looking really good," says Bourque. "The most rewarding part of directing commercials or any project is seeing the final piece and releasing it into the world after all the weeks or months of pre-production. It's rewarding to see the results of all that effort."
On his decision to join SixTwentySix, Bourque remarks, "Hearing about how Austin and Jake built SixTwentySix from the ground up to where they are now was really inspiring to me. Everyone I've met there is so passionate about what they do; they consistently put out work that sets the bar high and keeps me motivated. I'm excited to join the roster and add my voice to the mix."
Jake Krask, Partner and Managing Director at SixTwentySix, shares his excitement about the Bourque joining: "We are thrilled to welcome Evan to the SixTwentySix family. His unique creative voice and innovative spirit promise to be a catalyst for new projects that will captivate audiences and push the boundaries of visual storytelling."
Austin Barbera, Partner and Executive Producer at SixTwentySix, adds, "Welcoming Evan to our team signifies a transformative chapter for SixTwentySix. We are eager to see his exceptional vision bring new dimensions to our client projects."
Bourque's portfolio includes work for renowned brands such as Coursera, Western Union, Squarespace, New Balance, and Lululemon. His commercials for Geico have garnered multiple awards, including silver at the 1.4 Awards and the YDAs in 2023, as well as gold at the Golden Awards of Montreux. He recently directed the clever and humorous Eat Pecans campaign for the American Pecan Promotion Board and SixTwentySix.
In addition to SixTwentySix, Bourque is represented by Boldly in Canada and Creators Inc. in the UK. His partnership with SixTwentySix marks his first U.S. representation.
