de Lara was born in Madrid and raised in Gijón and, as a son of professional actors, soon developed a keen interest in cinema and image creation with an aesthetic style that sits somewhere between fashion photography, performance, design and high-end cinematography.

After completing his studies on Communication at the Complutense University in Madrid, de Lara focussed on his cinematographic ambitions with aditional courses on Cinema and TV at the International School of San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba.

After more than seven years of experience in cinema and television, de Lara decided to expand his career as a fashion film director, collaborating with big media platforms, such as the online edition of Vogue or brands such as Adolfo Domínguez and Yves Saint Laurent. With a unique look and a narrative that embraces intelligent humour and irony, the director soon attracted the interests of the advertising world where his debut work, Collisions for Heart Ibiza, placed him on the Cannes Shortlist. With his last fashion film, Europa II, de Lara won best director and best picture in La Jolla Fashion Film Festival.
