The APA Show 2018's Creative Pairings; Joanna and Sasha
As the APA Show and the premiere of the APA Collection nears, we continue our series of images highlighting some of the UK industry's most creative partnerships.
The premiere screening of the APA Collection 2018 will take place at the APA Show on Thursday September 6 at the Guildhall London and, as shots has done every year, we have partnered with the APA for a special photoshoot by Julian Hanford to celebrate the release of the APA Collection and, most importantly, some of the people behind the work featured both this year, years past and doubtless years to come.
Our theme for 2018 is partnerships and we have photographed some of London's leading and up-and-coming directors alongside one of their creative partners, and we will be showcasing the images, one each day, up to the day of the APA Show. We have also asked each of the subjects to tell us what it is about their partner that makes them such a perfect creative pairing.
The series of photographs, as they are revealed, will be collated and can be viewed on our Slate site.
"We both love character actors, so sometimes have to push for them to get through the process, and not just the beautiful ones. We really do like to look for those hidden gems!"
Joanna on Sasha
“We do go through a process. We don’t just land there… we might um and ah about different actors but it’s rare that I will love someone that Joanna hates, or vice versa. I think the main reason we work well together is because we can be quite honest and open with each other about the casting process. Joanna can say to me when it’s really not working and when she’s worried. Then I can give her all sorts of excuses and try to fix it! We can be realistic with each other and show our concerns because we know what our end goal is.”
