Frightening Films for Friday the 13th
Be afraid. Be very afraid. Because the 'net will be littered with Friday 13th-themed content. And of course, we're no different.
Are you paraskavedekatriaphobic? If the fact that today's date, Friday the 13th, leaves you on edge about what the day holds in store, then it's fair to say that you are.
The hard-to-pronounce paraskavedekatriaphobia is the fear of Friday the 13th [by the way, hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia is, ironically, the fear of long words] and even the most level-headed and pragmatic among us can be slightly trepidatious about such days, and since Jason Voorhees [below], the main, hockey mask-wearing character from the Friday the 13th film series came to our screens in 1980, the date has taken on even more significance.
So, we thought what better time to celebrate the day than with some of the best horror-themed commercials and music videos.
Another fear to kick us of; odontophobia, the fear of dentistry. If you've seen Marathon Man with Dustin Hoffman and were freaked out, maybe skip this one...
Slightly less horrific is this spot from giffgaff which plays with the horror film chase convention in a clever and funny way.
The clue's in the title of this Nike commercial which features a Voorhees-esque character helping to prove that sport can save your life.
4. Dizzee Raascal: Couple of Stacks
It's back to the truly, if rather comically, horrific promo where Dizzee Rascal turns nasty and plays a serial killer that terrorises a family.
Another rainy, foreboding night, another killer on the loose... this time in a spec spot for soap, of all things.
Finally, Axe makes use of the screaming, semi-naked girl-in-peril motif in this spot from 2011.
