On Your Marks...

Well, here we are again. You may still be getting flashbacks from last year's festival but it's time once more to dig out your Speedos, dust off your bikinis, fortify your livers and aquire an unusually strong desire for pink wine.

As ever, shots will be there to partake in the week's events, and this email is the first in our series of eight daily newsletters, stretching from today through to next Sunday, which we hope will be a useful accompaniment to your time in Cannes.

Each mailout will consist of a Face to Face Q&A with a prominent member of the industry who will be discussing some pertinent topics, as well as simply giving their take on the festival and its accompanying events - we begin with festival CEO Phil Thomas and will get insight from people such as Malcom Poynton, Guga Ketzer and Linus Karlsson over the course of the week.

This year we also have filmed interviews with various members of the industry, including Paul Silburn and James Hilton who will be discussing their time at the 2012 festival. We'll also have round-ups of the main awards and events throughout the week, letting you know which coveted Lions have gone to whom.

If that wasn't enough, we'll be tweeting throughout the festival, from various seminars, events and parties and, of course, we also have the shots Cannes Beach party – this year sponsored by our friends and partners at Bang Bang Films, 1000 Volt, atSwim and IMD. We hope to see many of you there, at the Majestic beach on Thursday night from 10pm till 2am, but a word of warning, get there early to guarantee entry.

There's also another high-profile, creative (unless you're watching England) event happening during the week; the Euorpean Championships. just as a gentle reminder we'll let you know each day what games are being played on that day and where you can watch them. And tonight’s Euro 2012 mathes are:

- Portugal v Netherlands

- Denmark v Germany

Kick-off: 20.45 CET (Both games will be played simultaneously)

Where to watch: Morrison's Irish Pub, 10 Rue Teissere, 06400 Cannes

Lastly, if you would like to contact us during the festival you can follow us on Twitter; @shotsmag, @shotsmag_dan, @shotsmag_iso, @shotsmag_ryan or visit the shots stand in the Palais, which is located opposite the registration desks.
