BBDO Paris' Paul Kreitmann Passes Away
Talented creative director dies aged just 32, in a tragic loss to the industry.
Some very sad news has reached us from across the Channel: Paul Kreitmann, creative director at BBDO Paris, has passed away following a serious but unspecified illness.
One of France's most promising young talents, Kreitmann worked for several top Paris agencies during the course of his 11 years in the industry, creating award-winning campaigns for the likes of PepsiMax, Alka Seltzer, Snickers and Volkswagen and garnering an impressive two Yellow Pencils, two gold Lions and a Clio Grand Prix.
Kreitmann's career began in 2006, when he joined BBDO Paris as an art director, swiftly making a name for himself with Clio Grand Prix-winning print campaign, Dissolve Your Problems, for Alka-Seltzer [below].
Four years later, he moved to DDB Paris, adding to his creative credentials with a series of witty spots for Playboy Fragrances, before becoming creative director at Ogilvy & Mather Paris. There, he oversaw some of the agency’s biggest clients such as Perrier, Allianz and Lenovo - proving himself as adept at old-school spectacular TVCs (Perrier's whimsical, Fleur et Manu-directed Hot Air Balloons) as product innovation (Lenovo's tech-enabled jacket which transforms into a projector screen).
Kreitmann's career came full circle in April last year, when he returned to BBDO Paris as CD to oversee the Smart, Foot Locker, SC Johnson, Bacardi and Ubeeqo accounts. A creative polymath, he also dabbled in filmmaking as one-half of Paul & Noé, the directing duo behind tongue-in-cheek shorts such as The Very Big Problems of Very Pretty Girls, [below] for NOWNESS. Outside of work, he was also a keen photographer and ran his own comic strip, Small Faces Comics.
Matthieu Elkaim, ECD at BBDO Paris, paid tribute to his colleague today. "Paul was a talented and demanding art director, a promising creative director but above all, a beautiful person, a true gentleman, one of my best friends. He is dearly missed by all."
