The Crying of Lot D&AD
Last call for bids on the foundation’s 50 legendary cover designs for the D&AD 50th Annual.
To celebrate a half century in creative communications, D&AD commissioned 50 industry legends to create covers for their 2012 Annual. The original artwork is currently being cried in an online auction set to close at 11:59pm (GMT) on Sunday 2 December - so now's your chance to get your hands on one.
The following day, Monday 3 December, will see 11 selected works auctioned live at 6:30pm in The Hospital Club’s Gallery in London. The lot includes original work from Quentin Blake (pictured above), Rankin, Nick Knight, Terry Gilliam and more.
“Getting In Book this year is a special achievement as the 50th Annual is a milestone in D&AD’s history,” says D&AD CEO Tim Lindsay, “The work is literally entering the annals of history.”
The cover designs genuinely encapsulate today's top creative talent and advertising/design work catalogued within the book. The standard edition of this sacred text is available from Taschen and only a mere 1,500 copies will be available with a pack of all 50 covers.
Bids not only go towards owning an original artefact from creative history, but also stimulate the future of the industry. All proceeds from the auction will go to the D&AD Foundation for supporting emerging creative talent.
