This week sees the return of the biggest European creative communications awards, Eurobest, for a milestone 25th instalment and shots is currently gearing up for the event as the sponsors of the official opening drinks reception this Wednesday 28 November. Another man who is also preparing to entertain and engage guests in Lisbon in 2012 is BETC Paris’ Stéphane Xiberras, who will be holding a talk on creative bravery (with reference to his agency's work with and Canal+) and has created some hilarious promotional material to tickle our taste buds.
The teaser film, a second clip taken from 1995’s Hollywood blockbuster Braveheart and sound dubbed over, makes a stand against “bad advertising” and calls out creative people everywhere to do their duty and be brave in their creative odysseys.
Gibson’s powerful monologue is twisted into a hilarious speech from a man on a horse claiming to be Xiberras with the sound altered to cater for the creative community. Looking with cynicism at those who “wear ties” it suggests that without the creative people commercials would be full of “smiling mothers with pale yellow sweatshirts on their shoulders having orgasms while eating fat free yogurts”… genius!
As previously mentioned, shots will be taking its own set of reins come Wednesday as sponsors of the official opening (drinks) ceremony of the 15th Annual Festival so we look forward to having you along for the ride.
The Eurobest Awards is now the biggest awards for Europe’s creative communications industry. In 2012, the Awards champion the continent's creativity across 14 different sections - including a new Branded Content & Entertainment category - and are judged by panels of international industry experts including VP and CCO at AKQA, global, Rei Inamoto, BBH founder and creative John Hegarty and Filmmaster Productions partner and executive producer Karim Bartoletti.
