shots Awards Winners: The Companies

Find out which teams and offices bagged our Agency, Production Company and Post House of the Year Awards.

The companies shortlisted for the inaugural shots Awards pulled together to create, and subsequently submit, some fine work over the past 12 months demonstrating the two steps required to be in with a chance of winning. Hailing from far and wide including both sides of the Atlantic and beyond, the offices that were selected to appear before the judges should all be proud of themselves. But there can only be one winner in each of the three company categories and here they are:

Agency of the Year – Wieden + Kennedy Portland

With longstanding clients Nike, Coca-Cola and Old Spice, the Oregon-based agency has found a winning formula for success in terms of creative output of the highest standard and continues its awards sweep in 2011 with the shots gong. As a consistent performer, but an agency not to be pigeon-holed, its shortlisted work below is only a taste of the campaigns that have graced Creative Showcases on shots reels for months on end. In issue 133, managing director Tom Blessington and ECD Mark Fitzloff tell us about what makes the agency continue to tick and why it has been so successful.

Production Company of the Year – MJZ Los Angeles

“I don’t think the 30 or 60-second spot will go away any time soon,” says MJZ Los Angeles president, David Zander – and we should hope not, too, considering this is our first Production Company of the Year Award to recognise outstanding work in the medium. The West Coast company dedicates the prize, as well as its continued display of sheer brilliance to its roster of directors, and quite rightly so. With a list including the likes of Tom Kuntz, Rocky Morton, Blue Source, Fredrik Bond and Rupert Sanders, we don’t blame them, and the shortlisted work below ended up screaming ‘pick me’ to the judges.

Lego Brick Thief

Call of Duty Inner Soldier

Dove Men Man

Post Production Company of the Year – MPC London

The visual effects studio came out on top of a healthy list of competitors to pip the prize –including its sister house in Los Angeles. With a well-measured balance of creative and technical skills at the company, as well as an honest and upfront approach with clients, its dynamic bunch of employees as a whole have contributed to the continued flow of excellent work that has come through the shots letterboxes. We’re happy to announce MPC London as a well-deserved victor in the Post category.
