FENWICK'S NEW PASSION

21 January 2009

London-based Passion Pictures has signed indie filmmaker and director Richard Fenwick for commercials representation.
Best known for his acclaimed music video work and imaginative short films, Fenwick has shot for bands such as Death In Vegas, Teenage Fanclub and Funeral for a Friend.

Fenwick's range stretches from pure animation through to mixed media and live action. His animated shorts UsersGuides, which pastiche public information films, have been screened at onedotzero, ResFest, Telluride and Annecy animation festival.

He is looking forward to getting stuck into mixed media commercials. "I love working with live action and animation. It's something I feel entirely comfortable with. Appropriately enough one of my favourite ads at the moment is Audi's Unboxed ad. This is the kind of work Passion excels at and it's precisely the kind of work that excites me."

But Fenwick won't be turning his back on his short film work. His most recent short, Albert's Speech, is set to do the festival circuit this year and will be broadcast by the BBC. It stars Nicholas 'Nathan Barley' Burns as a nervous best man, and uses a combination of live action and animation to convey his anxiety about giving the wedding speech.

Passion executive producer Michael Adamo is pleased with the new signing. "We've long admired his work and we regard him as a true filmmaker and innovator. We expect he'll bring the same ingenuity and vision to his work in advertising."
