LIAS HIT THE HIPPODROME

12 November 2008

London's Hippodrome played host to the 2008 London International Awards on Monday night as the brave and the bold of adland descended in their droves for a night of celebration, mastication and, for some, inebriation.
Now in its 23rd year, the sell-out LIA party rocked the recently re-opened Hippodrome as a selection of the top names from around the globe rubbed shoulders and chatted creativity over canapés and champagne before the event proper kicked off.

Proving that Cadbury Gorilla is still king of the jungle, the Juan Cabral helmed uber ad from Fallon netted the top award of the night, picking up the Grand Prize in the TV/Cinema category.

Leading the agency wins this year was BBDO New York. Across all categories the hot-shop collected 3 Grand Prize awards, including a statue for HBO Voyeur, 20 gold awards and 16 silvers. With close on 18,000 entries this year, the awards were distributed across regions and countries, with Thai work scooping 24 accolades, Brazil bagging 11 and Argentina collecting 53.

"We are very happy that the evening was such a success," LIA president Barbara Levy said. "Not just in terms of everything going like clockwork. It was more about everyone, not matter where they are from in the world, having a good time and appreciating the winning creative work that was shown. That's why we call our Awards Night a Party and Celebration and not a ceremony."

A full list of winners and photos from the event are available now on the LIA website.
