Cannes Festival has announced the jury members for the design category, a new award launched this year. Rodney Fitch CBE, chairman and CEO of Fitch Worldwide, will head the judging team, and the inaugural design Lions winners will be revealed on Wednesday evening, June 18, along with the press and cyber Lions winners. There is only one week to go until the very first Dubai International Advertising Festival. The
festival will take place between March 31 and April 1 and will comprise of 20 seminars and six workshops, which will be led by David Droga, Steve Harrison and Piyush Pandey, among many others.
Matt Miller, president and CEO of the Association of Independent Commercial Producers, has announced the composition of the Curatorial Committee for the 2008
AICP show. The committee is comprised of commercial producers, agency creatives and producers, directors, as well as music and editing professionals. They will review the results of the balloting of more than 300 judges on entries in 22 categories, and confirm eligibility and appropriateness to each category. The show will premiere on the June 3 at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City.
Protape, the London-based supply place for anything media related, has announced the lucky winner of the competition that ran on its website and forum in February. The winner, Simon Webb, is the founder of the editing and post production house, SJW Editing Facilities. He won a £1500 Sony HVR-A1E HDV camcorder.
Tartan Films has just announced the release of I'm a Cyborg, a fantasy film from Chan-wook Park, the Korean director of Old Boy and The Vengeance Trilogy. It will premiere in cinemas nationwide on April 4.
Max Hattler and Robert Seidel, multi-award-winning film makers and media artists, will be roaming Japan to perform audio-visual live sets, give talks, and screen their films in independent art spaces, cinemas, film festivals and universities. The tour kicks off on April 21 and will continue until May 28.
MTV is launching a variety of short-form projects across multiple platforms. The web-based comedy series North Palm Wrestling debuts on the linear network on Tuesday night. Three mobile series, Anton & Crapbag, Damien's Other Show, and hoodFab, will play on a combination of MTV-branded platforms. In addition to these projects, MTV will also be developing an on-air series with collaboration from the minds behind CollegeHumor.com. Kimberly Nordyke, and The Hollywood Reporter.
Spy Post has just opened its new editorial division to join its current offerings, which include post-production, visual effects and CG, and telecine. The new division will feature work from Edward Feldman and Nathan Petty, who have credits in commercials, music videos, short films and interactive campaigns.
