Bringing sport back from the tabloid ghetto... Norman Mailer, John Updike and George Plimpton, these are men who personified the intellectual sportshead. They weaved their wit, irony and knowledge carefully into the fabric of their sports journalism and brought it back from the tabloid ghetto and into a legitimate form of writing that actually mattered and made people care. So in that vein, we would like to salute the innovation of one sports blog that is endeavouring to follow in the multi-faceted footsteps of educated men who just love their sport. So, cast your eyes over the East London Invitational, raise your pint and remember art and sport can play on the same team. The East London Invitational.

Wacky Racer We thought playing with remote control cars was for kids... And it probably is. But when you go to the trouble of making a big track out of cardboard and link it up to a steering wheel at a monitor, it sort of turns the idea on its head a bit. Give us a go!

Making an Upception Some are calling it the film of the year. Others are simply saying it's THE film. But when it gets mashed with Disney Pixar's Up it becomes a whole different creation. Just as gripping though, this trailor merger makes us want the whole film done in this way. Somehow we think it'd take more than the weekend.
